The Boys & Girls Club of Youth Track & Field team is a program for children grades 2nd through 5th. This program is designed to teach and instill in the children the basics and fundamentals of the sport of Track & Field and the events within. The Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis Track & Field program instills within the children a sense of camaraderie, competitiveness, and that HAVE FUN attitude that is so important for them in their young lives. The BGCC Youth Track & Field program supplies a great group of coaches each season who volunteer and dedicate their time to ensuring the kids learn these skills and assets, but also ensure that they have a blast while doing so. From challenging practices to playing "run, jump, and throw" games, there is much fun and learning to be had. Members of the BGCC Track & Field team have their choice of 8 different events to choose from, ranging from short sprints to longer/middle distance runs and from jumping to throwing. The events that children can compete in include the following: 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter run, 800 meter run, long jump, high jump, and the softball throw (simulating the shot put). Team members get their choice of four events at each track meet. The season runs from early April to late March.
